This release has some significant changes simplifying the app by removing less used features and have some annoying bugs fixed.
The goal going forward will be to keep simplicity and usability as much as possible while minimizing adding new features unless it is deemed as absolutely needed.
The application install location is now ~MemoJournal, when the app is upgraded, ~ThisJournal will be renamed to this new folder name. Should there be any errors while renaming the folder by the upgrade, the folder can be renamed manually by using any file explorer on the device.
Weekly view has been removed, only the main view which now is a grid view and the monthly calendar view remain.
The sliding tabs that had journal and memo note editors are also gone, this was based on older versions of Android SDK. Also With this version, support for older versions of Android(<5) have been dropped. Users can keep using the current app version until device is upgraded and then upgrade the app.
This is a new app focusing on creating simple text notes and tasks while Memo Journal’s focus is more on writing journals and diaries.
Main ListView has been updated to show all latest entries in one long list in stead of by daily dates.
Number of entries can be set up to 500 in Preferences. Older entries can be viewed in calendar views or by search.
Also bottom menu buttons like Home and Arrows have been removed.
Hopefully this is easier to view the latest entries.
If the app mishaps when trying to take photos or trying to take backups, it is because Android 6 has changes in user permissions, please update the app to version 4.5.5 where this has been addressed.
There were permission issues for Camera and Calendar for new users using Android 6.
Android 6 changed the permission behavior such that new users have to give permissions at run time, this was added and corrected in this update.
Latest updates through v4.4.9 contain minor UI enhancements and updates, added a couple of custom fonts and portrait photos which were not being displayed in original portrait mode.
The landing page listview was updated to contain entries for a day only,
hopefully this is more useful and simpler to use,
also the menu buttons on top and bottom were slightly updated to make them consistent across the 3 main views which are:
daily, weekly and monthly calendar views.
While the main views are being made simpler, this will also lead to less errors while navigating through different pages.
Home icon is introduced on the 3 main views at the bottom, this will take you to today, current week or current month,
the jump-to icon at the top will let you select a specific date to jump to quickly, use the home icon to come back to current time.
Updated the main list view, hopefully making it easier for viewing.
Also added an option in Preferences to set all the colors to application defaults.
We have added an option to export journals and memo’s to a pdf file, this works on Android 4.4(KitKat) and higher only.
Also two forms of text files are create, one simple text file and another in a specific format, this allows journals for import back to the app.
Fixed a bug where entries did not display in the main list view,
this happened when an entry was added in the past.
